The committee's composition has undergone changes in recent days, with the announcement that the panel's latest chairman would depart for an official role and be succeeded by a cardiologist who has been critical of other immunizations.

The committee includes a number of vaccine skeptics who support a goal to reform – and potentially, in some cases, abolish – traditional immunization guidelines.
