š Share this article Jets Coach Glenn Confident Kris Boyd Will Recover Fully After NYC Shooting Jets head coach Aaron Glenn revealed that he has been in contact with cornerback Kris Boyd and is confident the athlete will recover well after being shot in central New York early Sunday morning. Glenn noted that Boyd, who is hospitalized, was āupbeatā during their recent conversation. āThatās what eases my mind, is that his mood is upbeat,ā Glenn commented. āHis wife and his kid, they are doing well and he is expected to recover fully.ā It remained unclear when Boyd could be discharged the medical facility, where he is reported as serious yet stable. āStill unsure,ā the coach said. āBut I will say this, just talking to him, he felt really upbeat. Once more, that reassures me, because of his outlook and his words reflect that optimism.ā New York police issued video stills Monday of a suspect in the incident involving Boyd. What prompted the attack remains under investigation and officials stated it remains uncertain if Boyd was targeted. No other injuries as confirmed by officials. The incident occurred just after 2am on Sunday near the famous arena and the iconic square. Boyd, in his late twenties, was taken to Bellevue Hospital after suffering a wound to the stomach, according to authorities. The perpetrator got away. Glenn mentioned Boyd has occupied his thinking āconstantlyā since he heard about the shooting. The coach said that Boyd and his wife are new parents to a newborn. āThe first thing I thought about, he has a new baby,ā Glenn remarked. āI thought of his spouse, Iām thinking about his kid and my priority is his well-being. Those thoughts dominated my thinking. āA certain process is underway, which I wonāt get into, but Iām happy at the fact that he will recover excellently.ā Boyd was inactive this season, after joining the team, after being placed on injured reserve on August 18 with an injury to his shoulder that needed an operation. Boyd came to New York as a new signing in March and was anticipated to become an important component of a revamped special teams unit under Glenn and special teams coordinator the special teams coach. Unfortunately, he sustained an injury during a practice session on early August and was taken away on a cart. Boyd continued to be present throughout the season while working his way back. āHe remains involved with our activities,ā Glenn stated. āCertainly, he attends every game. Heās fully engaged. As one of the leagueās best on special teams, he has excelled at supporting his teammates.ā Boyd, a Texas native, began his career with Minnesota after being a seventh-round pick by Minnesota out of Texas University in the 2019 draft. He joined the Arizona Cardinals in 2023 and later was with the Texans later that season. Boyd inked a single-season agreement for $1.6 million with New York in March.
