That wasn't always the case, but Avatar: The Last Airbender demonstrated this via "The Ember Island Players," a cherished episode during its concluding run now being receiving an exclusive Magic: The Gathering Secret Lair release. Highlights of the Secret Lair The complete Secret Lair superdrop for the forthcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender collection was announced on November 4. This includes five Secret Lairs, and even though the one called "My Cabbages!" is clearly humorous tribute to the show's best background character, the additional releases seem somewhat lacking creativity, aside from one remarkable entry: "The Ember Island Players." Inspired by the seventeenth episode of the third season of the animated show, this special set includes these particular cards: 1x Phantasmal Image represented as "Absolutely Accurate Actor" 1x Braid of Fire 1x Cursed Mirror 1x Mask of Memory 1x Thespian's Stage The reason this installment remains memorable Viewers of the series clearly recall this episode, which served as a summary of the protagonist Aang and his companions' journey before the series' finale. Unlike standard summary installments, or compilation episodes, "The Ember Island Players" did not stem due to production constraints or scheduling problems. The producers truly wanted to provide audiences a chance to recap the series' story, yet they chose to approach it inventively. In the episode, the heroes view a stage show based on their journeys in a theater located on Ember Island, called The Boy in the Iceberg. The entire performance is factually incorrect, over-the-top, and completely amusing. It succeeds because it plays with the characters' perception of themselves, contrasting them against how the world (and particularly the Fire Nation citizens) sees them. It contains the right amount of meta-commentary, and it ends up perhaps the top rendition of the show we have had. Worth and availability In terms of value, this is a great Secret Lair for one simple reason: Braid of Fire. This card trades for $20 and $40 through card retailers as of now, while for $29.99 you can acquire the complete collection, or $39.99 for the premium foil treatment. Magic's Avatar: The Last Airbender collection can be accessed during early access events starting November 14 and releases worldwide on Nov. 21.
